When It Comes to Studying I...
I personally study really well when I listen to music. No matter what I am doing, I manage to get more done and obtain more information when I have some awesome music playing. The music is not enough though, though it is a large factor. Generally, I read the materials before and after it is required because then I remember where in the chapter to look for information. As for how I study the material itself, I usually take notes during class that help but most of my notes are made outside of class. I go through the book and I write down key concepts and definitions. As I write them down I absorb them better with the music playing at the same time.
I have never been able to bring myself to write in a book. Instead, I will write the page number of the information next to my notes. When it comes to tests, I usually retain knowledge really well because I like to apply what I learn in class to my everyday life. However, I will also study for a test a little harder for about 3 days before a test. However, if it is a subject I am having a little more trouble with I will study harder for a solid week to prepare myself. Each day after I study I go through my notes and cover up the meanings to concepts and key words to test myself on how much I remember. I wish I could pinpoint just when I started this method of studying but I have literally done this my entire life.

How exactly does this relate to Module 12?
All of my study methods fall under the concept of metacognition. More specifically this falls under metacognition knowledge which is defined as knowledge about our own cognitive processes and an understanding of how to regulate those processes to maximize learning. In other other words, it is knowing exactly which areas you are best and which study methods work best to come to the best outcome.
Even more specifically, my study methods fall under strategy knowledge which describes a person's capability for using strategies to learn information. By listening to music and copying my notes because I know that is what will help me most is a direct example of strategy knowledge.
Planning to study for my tests falls under another aspect of metacognition know as regulation and even more specifically the planning aspect of regulation. This involves scheduling learning strategies and selecting which to use in different contexts. In this context I am planning to study for a week using music, my notes, and my textbooks to obtain a optimal grade on a test.
